Free learning 2 (for everyone)
This is a TED video of Salman Khan. He is promoting using video for learning. He also put his money where his mouth is and created the Khan Academy. The academy has a zillon free videos on all sorts of topics. I wish this were around when I was in school. One benefit he talks about in the TED talk is the ability for a student to watch a video over and over and when necessary, in order to understand a topic. This is great! No need to feel dumb saying “I still don’t get it” over and over. If I’d had these videos I might have passed Differential Equations by more than the skin of my teeth.
Check it out. Learn something.

I have watched the video and gone to check out his zillions of videos. Great stuff. I agree that this would have been wonderful if we had it when I was learning algebra.
I am sure that Khan could make better and more interesting videos rather than capturing stuff from the whiteboard. I am not asking for slick CTW stuff but something more interesting.
BTW, I started my life as a high school algebra teacher and that allows me to pontificate. I was even a dues-paying member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
BTW again, there are some interesting critiques of this video approach by science teachers. Google for comments on this approach.
More power to you in search of revolutionizing training through video. I am glad you are keeping us posted.

Great post. If I had video learning when I was a kid, I might have figured Algebra out, and learned what the lines between the numbers on a ruler mean!
